The Rules of Engagement

The rules of engagement are not only the principles of being engaged to a partner, but also the art of attracting a right partner. Getting a man to engage you and eventually propose, there are things, as a lady, you should do and things you shouldn’t. And speaking of that, pretence is not an option because the long term result of that is always like wishing to bury yourself alive. This, however, does not mean that a lady should spend her life planning on how to get a man propose. It is only necessary when situation calls for it. This article is basically for women, and the reason is that a man, usually, is the one that makes the move for an engagement. And given that fact, he moves by choice. Now let us discuss some of the rules of engagement: I give this first point for people who might get religious. In the Bible, Naomi instructs Ruth to wash herself and put on her best clothes and then to go out and meet with Boaz. As a lady, dressing up is an art of selling yourself. This does not apply to dressing to seduce or going out half-naked (I’m sure you know what I mean). Some dressing only attracts playboys and womanizers. In fact, ladies should be aware that seduction cannot get a serious man interested in you, it only makes him want you for the moment, and after that you mean nothing to him anymore – well, except for men without established principles, which means, if you can seduce such a man, another girl can seduce him too. This takes us to the next point: Being natural – think of the reason some – or many – superstars, rich guys, and celebrities often end up with a not-so-pretty-girl. This is because they have seen a lot of ladies who are not real; who throw themselves at them given any little opportunity. Most ladies are not always real when they meet a rich or famous dude. When they give you their cards to call, don’t call. Rather have them call you. Never forget that men are hunters. They have seen a lot of animals. So when they see that real person, out of the so many unreal they have seen, they desire her immediately. They don’t care whether she’s pretty or not. After all, they’ve seen, and probably slept with a lot of pretty ladies. Be natural. Be real. Don’t say you only eat fried rice and ‘Sharwama’ whereas you actually drink garri at home. Never pretend to be what you are not. It will also interest you to know that most men who turn out to lose interest in their women eventually learn that she’s not whom he assumed her to be. This takes us to pretence: Never, as a lady, pretend in a bid to getting a man interested in you. Yes, you might get him interested but you can’t keep him interested. What women don’t know is that men know when they are fake. A man always knows when a lady is lying – he either ignores it or uses it against her. Trust me, men have an idea of whom and what you are the moment they meet you. Make no mistake in thinking that women are some kind of voluminous book that cannot be exhausted. A man who has seen a lot of them always turns to the right page of each woman he meets. That’s why, if you have ever wondered, he ends up picking another girl after he has spent time with the other.
